Packing…

Here’s a sample packing list I make for my family.

This will change with time, but I always try to keep it simple.

Whether you love it or hate it, we have to pack before our trip. While I can’t do it for you, I can try to help a little.

Linked to my Facebook Business Page is a packing list focused on Walt Disney World (applicable to many destinations) for you to download and utilize. It isn’t perfect and you’ll need to think about what your specific family needs.

A list does two big things for you.

  1. Helps to make sure you have everything you need

  2. Helps to keep you from overpacking

Questions to ask yourself:

  1. Am I flying or driving?

  2. What suitcase is your goal and what suitcase is your backup?

  3. Do I need any “nice” or special outfits?

  4. What’s the weather while I’m there?

  5. Is there a washer/dryer I can use?

  6. What do I actually need? (Try not to play the what if game too much)

Points from The Dad:

  • Take my list and write/type out your own—save it and revise it for your next trip!

  • I begin a week before, but I’m a planner. This helps me get to the store or make last minute Amazon purchases

  • I also use a laundry basket to gather items that I need for the trip, but I don’t need the week of

  • I use ziplock bags for the kids. I label them day 1, day 2, etc. so there’s no thinking the morning of

  • I use packing cubes for adults—I separate by person or by purpose
