Let’s Talk Birthdays & Celebrations

Recently we celebrated our son's 6th birthday, and it’s crazy to think how quickly time passes. Just last year, we celebrated his 5th birthday—yes, I know that’s how age and numbers work—but this one was at Disney World where he wanted one thing…to eat in the castle.

As you can see from the picture, I was able to snag that hard to get reservation. While he didn’t like the attention of guests and casts members thanks to his birthday button, he wanted all the desserts. I get it—all of it. We did take his button off. My husband was a different story. He wore his button proudly because he wanted both the wishes and the desserts when we celebrated his 30th birthday.

To this day, he will tell you it was one of his favorite birthdays he has ever had. There was something magical about having strangers wish him happy birthday as he strolled through the park. He loved it so much we celebrated his 39th at Disneyland.

Celebrations aren't just birthdays though. They can be anniversaries, personal accomplishments, or just celebrating the fact you're away and you're with family or friends. They can be anywhere from Disney, to Universal, to an all inclusive in Mexico or even on a cruise.

All of these destinations have one thing in common, they want you to enjoy yourself and to celebrate whatever moment in your life you want. And given the last two years of my life, I vote for you to celebrate each moment—both the big and the little.

Did you know you don't always have to go on your birthday to celebrate? Plenty of people give travel as a gift for a celebration before and/or after the actual dates. There is no such thing as the celebration police!

Chances of me having a birthday at Disney or another destination are pretty slim. Why? Well, my birthday is December 19th and I prefer to be with my whole family that time of year. What did I do? I celebrated the first week of December at Disney.

When do you want to celebrate? Let’s get you there.
